Walsh Injury Blow

England beat Denmark 1-0 to maintain 100% start at Women's World Cup

WALSH INJURY BLOW

England maintained their 100% start at the FIFA Women's World Cup with a crucial 1-0 victory over Denmark in Group D on Wednesday night. The win puts the Lionesses in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stages, but they will be without Keira Walsh for the rest of the tournament after the midfielder suffered a knee injury.

Walsh was forced off in the first half after a challenge from Denmark's Pernille Harder. The injury is a major blow for England, as Walsh is one of their most important players. She was replaced by Jill Scott, who put in a solid performance in the second half.

The goal came in the 57th minute when Lucy Bronze crossed for Ellen White to head home from close range. It was White's second goal of the tournament and she now has 53 goals for England, moving her level with Kelly Smith as the Lionesses' all-time joint-top scorer.

Denmark pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but England held on to secure the victory. The win puts England top of Group D with six points from two games, while Denmark are second with three points.

England will now face Japan in their final group game on Sunday, while Denmark will play Cameroon.
